Steak-tar
Height:76cm
SLA (3D printing), Spray painted, MIDI guitar neck by US company Jammy
Software used: Rhinoceros 3D
I am a guitarist who loves steak and is tired of flat guitar designs. I created a custom guitar called Steak-tar—a guitar with the body of a succulent rib eye.
Designed in Rhinoceros 3D, the body is exaggeratedly curved and twisted. I paid attention to detailing the marbling and fat of a steak. Ergonomics is also important. Using the dimensions of my regular electric guitar, I made sure “Steak-tar” is comfortable to my thigh and torso. I have performed using “Steak-tar” during my exhibition at Ogilvy in Beijing.
I wanted “Steak-tar" to have great functionality. I incorporated part of a MIDI guitar made by Jammy Guitar, who shared their 3D models to support me. Connecting the steak and the MIDI guitar was challenging. I dedicated lots of time in adjusting the connection so that the two fit naturally, and there is space for guitar inputs.
Steak-tar was exhibited at the Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Beijing office, and Beijing WF Central - luxury retail center next to the Forbidden City.
